Ski and Snowboard in Oakland County!

Winter weather is here to stay and that means it’s a great time to have some fun at the ski and snowboard resorts in Oakland County. With all three being just a short drive away, you can choose from Alpine Valley in White Lake Township, Mt. Holly in Groveland Township, and Pine Knob in Clarkston. The resorts offer student, child and senior discounts, school ski-clubs, rentals, lessons, and terrain parks. If you’re just starting out on the slopes, have no fear! All three offer beginner hills with tow ropes and magic/wonder carpets to make things easy for you.

Alpine Valley Ski Area – White Lake

Enjoy beautiful surroundings, including 24 picturesque tree-lined runs, nine chairlifts, four rope tows, and a magic carpet. Freestyle skiers and snowboarders will enjoy four different styles of terrain parks designed for all ability levels. A skier/boarder cross track is open to the public so you can test your skills or race your friends. Be sure to check their events page for upcoming races and more.

Mt. Holly Ski & Snowboard Resort – Groveland Township

Mt. Holly offers something for everyone with seven chairlifts, four rope tows, and two Wonder Carpets. Ski or snowboard 20 trails, ranging from beginner to advanced in difficulty, and three Snowboard Parks with an assortment of terrain features. Enjoy the winter air on their 4200-square-foot heated paver patio with fire pit. When you’re ready to come in from the cold, enjoy their spacious Bavarian lodge and full service ski shop.

Pine Knob Ski & Snowboard Resort – Clarkston

Hit the slopes at Pine Knob, a 300 feet vertical with 14 runs and three terrain parks. It offers two Wonder Carpets, six chairlifts, and four tow ropes. Pine Knob has beginner trails, intermediate trails with a variety of features, including difficult trails for experts only. Curious about current conditions? Cold is Cool – 4th and 5th Graders Ski Free!

Have you heard about Michigan Snowsports Industries Association (MSIA)‘s Cold is Cool Passport program?

4th and 5th Graders can ski for free and get coupons at participating ski shops across the state! Go to Cold is Cool Passport to sign up. All three Oakland County Ski resorts: Alpine Valley, Mt. Holly, and Pine Knob participate in this exciting program from the MSIA.
