Oakland County Executive, Dave Coulter, delivered his fourth annual State of the County address to an in-person audience at the Berman Center for the Performing Arts in West Bloomfield Township Tuesday night. The speech emphasized the county’s values of community, respect, inclusion and gratitude – which is why Coulter selected the Berman Center to host this year’s speech.

Nine Downtowns Honored During Main Street Oakland County’s Main Event

Highland Township’s Downtown Development Authority (DDA) captured the Spirit of Main Street award, as nine downtowns were honored on May 5 during Main Street Oakland County’s Main Event, a gala celebration recognizing excellence in Oakland County downtown and historic commercial corridor revitalization.

Main Street Oakland County (MSOC) is a unique economic development program for downtowns, with a historic preservation philosophy and an emphasis on “sense of place.” The program helps local government develop their downtowns as vibrant, successful districts that serve as the heart of their communities.

Highlights of The 2022 Oakland County Economic Outlook

In its annual forecast of the Oakland County economy, the University of Michigan Research Seminar in Quantitative Economics provided encouraging news about the prospects for the county today and into the future. 

During Oakland County’s 37th Annual Economic Outlook Luncheon, hosted at M1 Concourse in April, University of Michigan economists Gabriel Ehrlich and Donald Grimes said Oakland County is rebounding from the recession and the pandemic as unemployment rates drop and wages increase.
