Get ready for a celebration that’s been decades — even centuries — in the making, as the Oakland County Fair will return to Springfield Oaks County Park this month.
Presented by Oakland County Parks, the fair will run July 10-19 with a packed lineup of events for agricultural enthusiasts, thrill-seekers, families and everyone in between. This year’s festivities will kick off with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Friday, July 10, which will commemorate not only the 250th birthday of the United States but also the 60th birthday of Oakland County Parks.
During the introductory ceremony, leaders will dedicate a historic marker recognizing the fair’s role during the Civil War , with a color guard performance, veteran acknowledgment, and more. Afterward, the first 300 guests will enjoy cake and ice cream to commemorate the parks system’s milestone. The day will conclude with a spectacular fireworks display and grand finale paying tribute to America, courtesy of OCP.
July 10 will also be Military Appreciation Day, honoring the service and sacrifice of veterans, active-duty military personnel and their families, with special activities and free admission for fairgoers who show military ID.
The first 400 residents to register in advance on the fair’s website will each receive a free parking pass for opening day, compliments of the Oakland County Parks and Recreation Commission.
Additional highlights throughout the fair will include:
- Family-friendly entertainment, like Racing Pigs, Sea Lion Splash, monster truck rides, Miracle of Birth Barn and Show-Me-Safari Petting Zoo
