A Local Summer Tradition Continues: Oakland County Fair Returns July 11-20

The famous sea lions are back, along with the racing pigs, Figure 8 races and so much more. The annual Oakland County Fair will return to the fairgrounds at Springfield Oaks County Park in Davisburg July 11-20, presented by Oakland County Parks.

Guests from around Oakland County and beyond have come to the fair for generations to enjoy the thrilling rides, family-friendly attractions and the celebration of Michigan’s farm culture.

“Oakland County is usually considered very populous and urban in nature, but it’s important to remember that we have a rich agricultural tradition here, too,” said Sara Ressler, general manager of the Oakland County Fair Association.

New to the fair this year is the Wheels of Agriculture game show. Test your knowledge of local animals, plants, farms and barnyards and music during three daily shows.

“The Oakland County Fair not only recognizes the hard work young people pour into caring for farm animals throughout the year, it celebrates with those who live in more urban communities. This creates rich, genuine interactions between farmers and city residents, who benefit by gaining a valuable glimpse into the agricultural lifestyle and what it takes to feed a community,” Oakland County Parks Director Chris Ward said.

While many visitors come to enjoy the animal exhibitions, many of which are demonstrated by local students, others come just for the fun of the carnival games, fair food and midway rides. The main arena events also draw a crowd, with Off-road Demolition Derby, Microwrestling, SuperKicker Rodeo, Night of Destruction and Monster Trucks. Tickets for these events can be purchased at OakFair.org.

Fair admission is $15/vehicle and $10/motorcycle or walk-in. Presenting sponsor Oakland County Parks will offer free admission on Friday, July 11 to the first 250 people who register and all military personnel who present a valid military ID. Free admission will also be provided for individuals with disabilities who register before July 10 for the July 17 Adaptive Recreation Day.
