Quality of life is important in Oakland County and our Waste Resource Management is always working to improve it. In addition to maintaining the state mandated solid waste plan, their goal is to minimize the impact of solid waste on public health and the environment through recycling programs, events and partnerships.

One of the ways they do this is by working with communities to organize 2017 NO HAZ collection events. The events provide residents a safe and responsible way to dispose of household hazardous waste. This year’s first collection event was held in the spring and there are three remaining now through October. For more information on upcoming NO HAZ events and to see what items are accepted, take a look at our 2017 blog.

Oakland County Waste Resource Management has also partnered with Oakland Schools to support the Michigan Green Schools initiative. This initiative promotes environmental and energy savings for our school-age youth in grades K – 12. The program focuses on teaching environmental practices and encouraging good stewardship and leadership.
