The Oakland County Animal Control & Pet Adoption Center has been hard at work all summer to save more lives. Since June 1st, the Center has helped more than 680 animals find or return to their forever home!

This Saturday, the Center is hosting its final summer pet adoption event. The Dog Days of Summer & Cool Cat Nights will be held on August 9th from 10am – 4pm at the Oakland County Animal Control & Pet Adoption Center  (click HERE for location & contact information), and will be offering a special discount on adoptions.

Pet Adoption Center Offers Free Cat Adoption Saturday

This Saturday, don’t miss out on your opportunity to expand your family and save the life of an animal (or animals) in need!

The Oakland County Animal Control & Pet Adoption Center is hosting a “Certified Pre-Owned Cat Adoption” event on Saturday, July 12th from 10am – 4pm at their location in Auburn Hills. Individuals who meet screening requirements may adopt cats for FREE on Saturday; dogs will also be available for adoption, at their regular prices.

In addition to adoptable pets, the public can enjoy on-site food trucks, bounce houses, face painting, a psychic, pet supply vendors, and much more! The event is a part of a series of events hosted by the Center, which is competing to win a $100,000 grant from Rachel Ray and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

With an objective to save more lives, the $100,000 grant will go to the animal shelter with the most improved adoption numbers. Oakland County’s goal is to adopt out 2,014 pets during the months of June, July, and August. Learn more about the ASPCA’s #100KChallenge.

The Oakland County Animal Control & Pet Adoption Center is located at 1700 Brown Road in Auburn Hills. Its next #100KChallenge event, called the “Dog Days of Summer and Cool Cat Nights”, will be held on Saturday, August 9th from 10am – 4pm.

#100KChallenge – Rescue Me Saturday

10487228_10152563111569451_7595859877746187157_nTomorrow (Saturday, June 28th), join the Oakland County Pet Adoption Center for Rescue Me Saturday, their second event as a part of the #100KChallenge. The center is competing for a $100,000 grant from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) and Rachael Ray; the center’s #100KChallenge goal is to adopt out 2,014 pets during the months of June, July and August.

Rescue Me Saturday will feature local rescue groups. These groups tend and care for animals that require a little more TLC, however through the rescue process, animals can be adopted. This is your chance to talk with rescue group professionals, learn more about the application process for rescuing, and meet their adoptable animals.

#100KChallenge: Father’s Day Bow Wow

The Oakland County Animal Control & Pet Adoption Center is participating in the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals’ (ASPCA) #100KChallenge! The $100K Challenge is a contest in which 50 shelters across the country compete to break their own records saving the lives of animals. Throughout the months of June, July and August 2014, each competing shelter must save more dogs, cats, puppies and kittens than they did during the same three months in 2013.

On Saturday, June 14th, the Center is holding a special Father’s Day Bow Wow event – the first event scheduled to help the center reach its goal to adopt out 2,014 pets during the months of June, July and August!
