This Saturday, the Center is hosting its final summer pet adoption event. The Dog Days of Summer & Cool Cat Nights will be held on August 9th from 10am – 4pm at the Oakland County Animal Control & Pet Adoption Center in Auburn Hills (click HERE for location & contact information), and will be offering a special discount on adoptions.

Individuals and families may adopt a dog older than four months for $68.25 (normally $136.50), or $57 (normally $114) for a puppy younger than four months. Kittens and cats will also be available for adoption at NO COST (normally $57.50). All adoption fees include vaccinations and spay or neuter.

And as a part of our recent “PAWS to say thank you” program, local heroes may adopt dogs and cats for FREE through August 31st. This program, launched last month, waives adoption fees for all active duty military, reservists, national guard, veterans, police officers, firefighters, emergency medical technicians, emergency dispatchers, doctors, nurses, teachers, and senior citizens (65 years or older). There is a $7.50 licensing fee for dogs.

Be a part of the #100KChallenge and help save the life of one of Oakland County’s furry finest!

If you are interested in adopting a pet on Saturday, please come prepared – identification will be required. The screening process for pet adoptions includes questions about prior pet ownership, the type of residence, and whether pets are allowed there.

This event is fun for the whole family – also on site will be food trucks, bounce houses, face painting stations, a psychic, pet supply vendors, and much more. So bring along the kids, call up your neighbor, and join us for a tail waggin’ good time!

The Dog Days of Summer & Cool Cat Nights event is the final summer pet adoption event for the Center’s participation in Rachel Ray’s and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA)’s #100KChallenge. The Challenge will reward a $100,000 grant to one of 50 shelters across the nation that break their own records of saving lives throughout June, July, and August. Help the Oakland County Animal Control & Pet Adoption Center reach its goal of 2,014 animals saved this summer – adopt!

You can read more about the ASPCA’s #100KChallenge HERE. And don’t forget to stay connected with the Pet Adoption Center on social media – like their Facebook page HERE, and RSVP for Saturday’s event HERE.
