Be Active

Connecting with nature to enjoy the scenery and fresh air is important to physical and mental health. Oakland County Parks provides numerous opportunities to stay active throughout the year. From cross-country skiing and fat tire biking to birdwatching, consider basking in winter activities this year.

Volunteer

Are you looking to give back and make an impact in your community? Oakland Becoming involved provides the opportunity to meet new people and make a difference through volunteering. Consider donating your time to Oakland County Parks, the Animal Shelter & Pet Adoption Center, or Children’s Village. If volunteering is a long-term goal, consider becoming a Youth Assistance Mentor through the Circuit Court. Most of the volunteering opportunities can be done individually or in a group. Better the Community

RainSmart Rebates

When snow and ice begin to melt or when rain pools on the ground, it becomes stormwater. Sewers move the water out of our neighborhoods and into large bodies of water, which can overflow if there is too much stormwater. By applying to Oakland County’s RainSmart Rebates program, you can not only help reduce stormwater at home but also receive up to $2,000 for implementing sustainable stormwater practices, like planting trees or rain gardens and using rain barrels. For more information about applying to RainSmart Rebates, visit oakgov.com/rainsmart.
