Give Back with Operation Good Cheer at the Oakland County International Airport

An airplane hanger is filled with mountains of wrapped gifts and dozens of bicycles waiting to be loaded into airplanes for Operation Good Cheer.

Thank you for your interest in Operation Good Cheer. For the Oakland County Blog’s latest edition of Operation Good Cheer, see here.

Operation Good Cheer delivers nearly 20,000 gifts to more than 6,700 foster children across Michigan from their home base at the Oakland County International Airport. Every year, donors wrap and sort gifts from children’s wish lists which are then flown to 26 airports across the state. Agency workers then pick-up the gifts and deliver them to foster children in time for Christmas.

This year’s annual event takes place on December 7th and 8th at Pentastar Aviation. Operation Good Cheer is looking for volunteer ground-crew members, pilots, and planes (big or small) in addition to gifts and wrapping supplies. Register as a volunteer at the sign-up link below:

Operation Good Cheer is celebrating 47 years of making Christmas wishes come true. Child and Family Services of Michigan, Inc. started the charity in 1971 when a group of generous individuals gathered to wrap, organize, and deliver Christmas gifts to children in need.
