Support local artists and cast your vote to help choose the next MI Great Artist! More than 200 submissions were entered in this year’s art competition. Click HERE to view the gallery of artworks and submit your vote online. Make sure your favorites move on to the semifinals by voting for them daily. Artworks include painting, photography, sculpture, glass, metal works, jewelry, and more. Take a look and see the fine talent submitted from artists across eight Michigan counties for this year’s competition.
Vote Now: 2018 MI Great Artist Competition!
Vote for your favorite artists daily from now until noon on Wednesday, September 5th. The 30 entries receiving the most votes will move on to become semi-finalists. A select panel of art professionals will then determine the four finalists, including the overall winner, who will share in a prize package worth more than $16,000. New this year is a “People’s Choice” award, the artist who receives the most votes during public voting will receive $750 in cash and automatically become one of the finalists.
With so many impressive entries to choose from, the public’s help is needed to single out the best of the best. The competition allows individuals to vote for as many artists as they wish each day, but they may only select a particular artist once per day. Voting is Easy
Set up a Submittable account by clicking the button above or by visiting MIGreatArtist.com and clicking the “VOTE NOW” button. Sign up for an account using the button in the top right corner of the screen. You will only need to do this once.
To vote for an artist, simply select their thumbnail to see their entire entry and cast your vote using “Vote” button in the top left corner of the screen. Once selected, the thumbs up icon will turn orange and the text will change to “Voted.” You can vote for as many artists as you like during that day. Voting is open until Wednesday, September 5th at noon. Don’t forget to come back every day to vote!
Awards
The MI Great Artist winner will receive:
- $1,500.00 cash prize
- Framing of 5 artworks included in the submission by Park West Gallery (value $2,500)
- Group exhibition at Park West Gallery, October 23-30, 2018
- Scholarship to attend 3 Business Basics workshops offered through Oakland County’s One Stop Shop Business Center (value not to exceed $150) and a 1-hour consultation with an Oakland County business development representative
- Artwork featured on a poster to promote one of Oakland County’s signature quality of life events TBD, printed by Park West Gallery (value $700)
- Solo exhibition at Park West Gallery, Southfield, corresponding with the 2019 MI Great Artist competition
- Solo exhibition at the Oakland County Galleria, Waterford
The People’s Choice Winner will receive:
- $750.00 cash prize
- Framing of 5 artworks included in the submission by Park West Gallery (value $2,500)
- Group exhibition at Park West Gallery, October 23-30, 2018
- Scholarship to attend 1 Business Basics workshop offered through Oakland County’s One Stop Shop Business Center (value not to exceed $50) and a 1-hour consultation with an Oakland County business development representative

Three Runners Up will each receive:
- $375.00 cash prize
