Cranbrook Academy of Art, located in Bloomfield Hills, is one of the nation’s leading graduate schools of art, architecture, and design. It has been home to some of the world’s most renowned artists and features a world-class museum devoted exclusively to modern and contemporary art, architecture, and design. Cranbrook Academy of Art is like no other program in the United States and is based on the idea that Artists-in-Residence, their families, and students live and work in close proximity. Each year, just 75 students are invited to study and live on the landmark Saarinen-designed campus.

Without a set curricula, required classes, or prerequisites, you’ll find Cranbrook Academy of Art to be very unique. Ten Artists-in-Residence determine how programs are run and work individually with students to determine their course of study. That study is always centered on a rigorous studio-based practice of making, informed by intensive and regular critique, and the opportunity to observe and work with leading practitioners in their own studio environments.
