2014 Ferndale Blues Festival

blues4blues3blues2blues1 It doesn’t matter where your from, Clarksdale Mississippi,  Byron Bay Australia or right here in the Motor City, the blues has  influenced many modern popular musical styles and musicians. (…from Hank Williams to Prince and everything in-between)

Blues lyrics often follow a AAB pattern which is common in many songs of yesterday and today.  (“A” refers to the first and second four-bar verse, and “B” is the third four-bar verse. In a 12-bar blues, the first two lines are repeated, and the third line is in response to  the first two).

But I am sure you are not here for a lesson in the history of the blues….

Over the next week, January 24 – February 1 the blues will take over the City of Ferndale, with the 2014
Ferndale Blues Festival which will have many talented local blues bands celebrating the sound in the Restaurants, Stores, Bars and even at the Library during the week.

With cover charges and donations going to local charities, everybody should be happy that Ferndale has the blues.

In addition to all the music, on Saturday February 1st, in the Library parking lot there will be a BBQ Rib Burn Out (Team Rib Cooking competition).  8 teams cooking up 2000lbs of great tasting ribs. (Sure will be a lot of finger lickin’ going on!)

For more information and a complete list of performers visit either Ferndale Festival Facebook  or the Ferndale DDA.
