Michigan State University (MSU) Extension is accepting applicants until August 11th to participate in the training classes for the Extension Master Gardener Program Waterford (Oakland County) that runs from August 17th to December 7th. Join a community of over 560 Oakland County volunteers all while expanding your knowledge in ways to care for your lawn, trees, flowers, and more!

From flips and rolls, to dips and dives, the event boasts high flying entertainment and historical aviation.

Follow the tailwind to the 30th Annual Oakland County International Airport (OCIA) Open House and Air Show6500 Highland Rd. Waterford, set to take off Sunday, August 28th from 10 am. to 4 p.m. The Air Show will start at 2 p.m.

The Airport Open House and Air Show is a free community event with aviation entertainment and exhibits that include Cold War-era military trainer jets and aerobatic planes.

Michigan’s Amazing Asparagus: A Celebration of Green Spears from Empire, Michigan to the Oakland County Market

There is no celebration of asparagus quite like the three days of food-stomping, hand-clapping, green-spear eating fun that was held last weekend in northern Michigan. The festival took place on the streets of downtown Empire, a village nestled in the shadows of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore and barely a stone’s throw from the waves of Lake Michigan. Are you wondering how one celebrates asparagus? I traveled to Empire to find out and quickly became an active participant in Empire’s 12th Annual Asparagus Festival, an event that even outshines St. Patrick’s Day when it comes to being green.
