The speech emphasized the county’s values of community, respect, inclusion and gratitude – which is why Coulter selected the Berman Center to host this year’s speech.

Oakland County Announces Career and Education Navigators to Help Residents with Post-Secondary Education

The Oakland County Executive Office recently announced a new initiative designed to assist residents in securing a post-high school degree or credential. A press conference was held at Oakland Community College, where the county’s chief deputy executive and guest speakers introduced the brand-new career and education navigators.

These navigators will work closely with Oakland County adults to help future and current students find their path to a meaningful career. Residents can meet individually with the navigators and create a road map to completing a post-secondary degree or credential. The navigators will also help with registration, college or training completion, financial aid and loan application, transferring records, and accessing academic supports and additional supportive services.

Coulter unveils roadmap to keep Oakland County All ways, moving forward

Oakland County Executive Dave Coulter revealed his roadmap for Oakland County’s future during his State of the County speech Tuesday night at the M1 Concourse Event Center in Pontiac. The five-year strategic plan commits Oakland County to “All ways, moving forward,” by making a real and measurable impact in three primary areas: a strong economy, healthy and safe communities, and opportunities for residents to live their best lives.

“Our mission is simple, but powerful: To serve through collaborative leadership and to help support communities where residents flourish and businesses thrive,” Coulter said.

Oakland County Executive David Coulter Celebrates Resilience of Residents, Employees, and Businesses During Pandemic

Oakland County Executive Dave Coulter declared his vision for building Oakland County’s future now in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic during his 2021 State of the County address Wednesday evening. It included an announcement that the Oakland80 initiative, geared to leading our state in getting 80 percent of the county’s adults a college education or certificate training by 2030, will kick off later this year by providing navigators and success coaches to help residents plot out their career goals.

“We don’t need to wait for the end of this pandemic to build our future. We must start now, “ said Coulter, who premiered his annual speech on social media from Stagecrafters at the Baldwin Theater in Royal Oak without an in-person audience present due to coronavirus precautions. “The Oakland80 program will get underway this summer and will fan out across the county to give residents the assistance they need to complete college credits or skilled training programs.”
