Get ready to rumble, Oakland County! The world’s largest one-day automotive celebration, The Woodward Dream Cruise, is rolling back into town Saturday, August 18th. Travel along the 16-mile stretch of Woodward Avenue from Pontiac to Ferndale, and cruise through nine Oakland County communities: Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Pleasant Ridge, Pontiac and Royal Oak.

It’s all about speed. Their light weight allows them to glide across the lake’s surface as if it were glass.
Boats, that race to speeds of up to 105 miles per hour, will roar across Pontiac Lake in Waterford again this year for Oakland County’s 17th annual Quake on the Lake from July 22-24th.
Grand Prix drivers from across the country will race across Pontiac Lake in Inboard Hydroplane boats, competing for a spot in the record books. In fact, Quake on the Lake holds 21 American Power Boat Association (APBA) records for speed in five different racing classes. This recognition makes Quake on the Lake one of the fastest one-mile race courses in the country.
While the big boats will be flying across the Detroit River at breathtaking speeds later this summer (August 22-23), Oakland County has its own breed of championship power boat race. The 16th Annual Quake on the Lake will take place on July 18th and 19th, 2015. Continue reading
