Join Oakland County in Honoring National Crime Victims’ Rights Week

Since 1981, National Crime Victims’ Rights Week (NCVRW) has challenged Americans to confront and remove barriers to achieving justice for all crime victims. During NCVRW, we recognize the accomplishments of the victims’ rights movement and reflect on how far we have come. In recognizing this important week, each year, the Oakland County Prosecutor’s Office organizes a special ceremony. This year, we are excited to announce that the Prosecutor’s Office and CARE House of Oakland County have partnered for the first time.

On Wednesday, April 9, at 8:30 am, we will come together and acknowledge the work we do to make Oakland County safer for children and families. The event is free of cost and open to the community.

Both the Prosecutor’s Office and CARE House of Oakland County have seen the benefits of this critical collaboration between law enforcement and child advocacy centers. These partnerships improve outcomes for crime victims and ensure that children and families get the support they need during a traumatic time. At this year’s NCVRW event, we will focus on the how important these connections are in the healing journey of survivors.

April is also Child Abuse Prevention Month, and the ceremony coincides with Wear Blue Day. Blue is the color associated with child abuse prevention. We are asking attendees to consider wearing blue to the event to show their support for child abuse prevention.

We hope that you will join us to highlight the progress we have made towards achieving justice for crime victims in Oakland County and we can’t wait to see you there!
