In a bipartisan vote, the Oakland County Board of Commissioners approved County Executive Dave Coulter‘s budget for fiscal years 2025-2027. The balanced and transparent plan includes investments in education, housing, healthcare, and public safety.
The budget is lean, fiscally responsible and balanced. It solidifies Oakland County’s AAA bond rating, ensuring access to favorable borrowing rates for future projects.
“Our budget was approved by the Board of Commissioners with a bipartisan majority, showing that when it comes to providing resources and programs for our residents, Democrats and Republicans can work together for the good of Oakland County residents,” County Executive Dave Coulter said.
Key initiatives in the budget include:
- Oakland80: A program designed to assist residents in securing a degree or credential beyond high school.
- Oakland Together Housing Trust Fund: Supporting the development of affordable housing in several communities throughout the county.
- Integrated Urgent Care Center: Collaborations with Honor Community Health and the Oakland Community Health Network to create an urgent care center in Pontiac that provides primary care and emergency mental health services. The budget also offers assistance to families with elevated lead levels in their homes, regardless of their ability to pay.
- Public Safety Investments: Increasing staffing in the Prosecutor‘s and Sheriff‘s offices and upgrading emergency radio systems.
