OakAlert Helps County Residents Prepare for Emergencies

In the event of an emergency, it is critically important for you to be prepared and informed. Oakland County‘s emergency notification system, OakAlert, empowers residents to be aware of extreme incidents throughout the county, such as:

Everyone should have a plan during emergencies and a method to accept notifications in different modes, i.e., NOAA weather radios, television, phone application, etc. Please ensure your device can receive and interpret messages or alerts that are issued.

OakAlert notifications of emergencies, disasters, or hazardous situations that would require immediate action will use email or text messaging to the devices registered online.

The purpose of OakAlert is to provide accurate and helpful information to concerned citizens, businesses, and governmental agencies. It is a free, voluntary service. Alerts will be sent via text and email, so standard messaging rates may apply. Information submitted will be kept confidential and not be released to any third party.

Non-emergency Oakland County information can be received by subscribing to the Oakland County Digital Subscription service for news from county departments or municipalities.
