“We’re looking for people who are not only passionate about their jobs, but also committed to giving back to their communities and making the county and the world a better place. These are the future leaders of the business world and our communities and it’s important to recognize and celebrate them.”
-Oakland County Executive David Coulter
The newly-titled program takes inspiration from Coulter’s first State of the County Address delivered at the Flagstar Strand Theater in Pontiac in February 2020. During the address, Coulter announced the theme of “Oakland Together” and stated the county could unify, lead and innovate, “…together as public servants working for the public good, together with our residents and businesses, and together with our region.”
The 40 finalists, who will be featured on the Oakland County Oakland Together 40 under 40 website, will receive invitations to the 2022 State of the County Address and pre-reception and the Oakland Together 40 under 40 Award celebration. They will also receive tickets to attend Leadership Oakland‘s Breakfast of Champions, Personal Leadership – Young Professionals Panel.
The last 40 Under 40 class was 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The award program was formerly known as the Oakland County Elite 40 Under 40.
The forthcoming Class of 2022 is slated to be announced in January of 2022.
