Oakland County gardeners can sign up now to participate in the Master Gardener Program through Michigan State University Extension. The program provides adult horticultural education and volunteer leader training to anyone with an enthusiasm for gardening, along with a willingness and commitment to volunteer in the community. Register for the Fall 2016 class by July 29th and learn more about the Master Gardener program in the Oakland County video.

Created in 1972 at Washington State University, the program is now offered in 46 states, with more than 30,000 residents from 72 Michigan counties participating. The Master Gardener program helps to provide the community with trained gardeners that can educate the public about environmentally sound practices and improve the quality of life in Michigan through horticulture-based volunteerism. 1. My name is Charlene Gordon and I live in Southfield MI. Our association is having a plant exchange and I would love to have one of your arborist come and visit our area to advise us on our trees. We have a large variety of beautiful pines, maples, and honeysuckles to name a few. We have two preserved woodland areas and our homes sit on large lots.

Please let me know if you have an arborist in our area who would be willing to attend our meeting and talk to us about keeping our trees healthy and tree planting. The meeting is on June 3rd between 10 and 12:30 am.
