Oakland County Park’s Dog Swims 2015

Red Oaks and Waterford Oaks Waterparks are going to the dogs on September 12th and 13th! The annual end of summer Dog Swim is for dogs only, no humans. Enter your pooch in the contest for “Best Wet Look” and “Best Swimsuit” held throughout the day!

Dogs swim away at Red Oaks Waterpark at the annual Dog Swim.

Don’t wear your Sunday best as you might not stay dry for long with lots of wet tail wagging and shaking going on! The swims will take place at Waterford Oaks Waterpark on Saturday, September 12th and at Red Oaks Waterpark on Sunday, September 13th. Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your swim session for registration and information. These swims take place one week after the waterparks close to give the pool’s chemicals time to dissipate before the dogs jump in! Swimmers don’t worry, the pools are drained, cleaned, and cleaned again before the parks reopen in the Spring.

The day is broken into 4 sections, based on the weight of the dog, with 75 dogs allowed in the pool during each 55 minute session. Registration forms can be found on the Destination Oakland website (search for the Dog Swim form). All owners must show valid Michigan Dog License and proof of vaccinations at the time of the event. The cost is $10 (before September 4th) and $15 at the gate.

Red Oaks Waterpark is located at 1455 East 13 Mile Road in Madison Heights.
Waterford Oaks Waterpark is located at 1702 Scott Lake Road in Waterford.
