Independence Oaks Beach Dog Swim

It’s hard to believe, but the summer of 2014 is coming to a close. It’s certainly been a busy summer, with plenty of fun family-friendly activities to do all across Oakland County. And what better way to wrap up summer than hittin’ the water one last time with man’s best friend?

Join Oakland County Parks & Recreation as they host a Camp Bow Wow Beach Dog Swim at Independence Oaks Beach on Saturday, September 13th, from noon until 3:55pm. This dog swim allows dogs of all sizes to celebrate the end of summer by splashing around and taking a dip with several of their fellow furry friends!

Due to health regulations, humans are not permitted to join their pets in the water – but don’t worry! The space will also be fenced in, to ensure that your dog won’t wander off. Additionally, all owners must show their valid Michigan dog license and proof of vaccinations on site.

In addition to all of the excitement in the water, there will also be contests for the Best Wet Look, and the Best Swimsuit – so if your pup enjoys playing dress up, be sure to bring their best summer swim attire!

Space is limited; there are 4 different time slots, with each slot designated for your dog’s weight. Time slots are as follows:

A. Noon–12:55 p.m. Dogs 70 lbs. and larger
B. 1–1:55 p.m. Dogs 31–69 lbs.
C. 2–2:55 p.m. Dogs 30 lbs. and under
D. 3–3:55 p.m. Dogs 70 lbs. and larger

Trust us…you don’t want to delay! E-mail & fax registration is still available, and will be accepted until September 11th at 12pm (noon). Registration forms can be found online, and if questions can be addressed by calling 248.424.7076.
