Looking for a fun place to spend time with your canine kids? You’re in luck! The Oakland County area offers a variety of dog parks. You and your furry friend can have a great time at any one of the local dog parks playing, socializing, and exercising. View all the dog parks in Oakland County below:

Whether you want to play ball at the Lyon Oaks Dog Park in Wixom, swim & doggie paddle at Orion Oaks Dog Park in Lake Orion, or take a stroll at William Grace Dog Park in Farmington Hills, there’s a park for you nearby.

Find a Farm in Oakland County

Fresh, seasonal produce can be found locally throughout the 25,000 acres of farmland in Oakland County. From Spring, Summer, and Fall look for fresh fruits and vegetables like asparagus, berries, corn, apples, and pumpkins-some you can even pick yourself! You can also find local alpaca wool, dairy, honey, and meat from local farms. Visit a farm stand, u-pick farm, or Community Supported Agriculture location to find fresh produce for you and your family to enjoy while supporting local farmers. Use our interactive map or list to find one near you.

Check out the Long Family Farm in Commerce for a taste of their ripe sweet corn, travel to the beautiful Middleton Berry Farm in Ortonville to pick a few berries on your own, or head on over to Guernsey Farms Dairy, in Northville, for flavorful ice cream! In addition, many of the farms allow day trips and visits for kids to learn all about what goes on in and around the barnyard.

Travel Back in Time at the 2018 Michigan Renaissance Festival

Hear ye, hear ye! The Michigan Renaissance Festival (Ren Fest) is returning once again to Holly, Michigan. Back for the 39th year, the Ren Fest is known for being one of Oakland County’s most unique annual festivals. Riveting jousts, colorful costumes, and delicious turkey legs are just a few things you can look forward to. The festival celebrates the end of medieval times in a fantasy world setting and is open weekends and Labor Day, beginning August 18th through September 30th. Go back in time and experience the magic of the Renaissance!

The Woodward Dream Cruise is Driving In!

Get ready to rumble, Oakland County! The world’s largest one-day automotive celebration, The Woodward Dream Cruise, is rolling back into town Saturday, August 18th. Travel along the 16-mile stretch of Woodward Avenue from Pontiac to Ferndale, and cruise through nine Oakland County communities: Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Pleasant Ridge, Pontiac and Royal Oak.

Looking for a yellow-necked timid dinosaur? I’ve got the next best thing: A Blanding’s turtle! Signs of these ancient creatures may be a slow-moving dome lumbering across the road or a mysterious shell appearing like a glistening algae coated rock at the edge of a marsh. If the turtle’s long neck is extended and the dazzling golden-yellow throat and chin are exposed, the confirmation is certain, you are viewing a Blanding’s turtle (Emydoidea blandingii); a “Species of Special Concern” in the State of Michigan. Species of special concern are generally described as:

“any species of fish or wildlife that does not meet the criteria as endangered or threatened but is particularly vulnerable and could become a threatened, endangered or extirpated species due to restricted distribution, low or declining numbers, specialized habitat needs or limits, or other factors, or is a species likely deserving of threatened or endangered status, but for which insufficient data are currently available.”
