Have you ever passed by a sculpture or other piece of art in Oakland County and wondered where it came from, why it is there, or how many others there are in the area? You can find these works of art all over the county with the Oakland County Art Map.
The Oakland County Sheriff’s Office is accepting donations for the 31st annual “Coats for the Cold” coat drive from November 1st to November 30th. Clean, gently-used or new coats can be dropped off at one of their drop-off sites around Oakland County. All Oakland County locations of Real Estate One HQ and Genisys Credit Union are drop-off sites. Additionally, donors will receive up to $50 off the cost of a pet adoption ($10 per donated coat, up to five coats) at the Oakland County Pet Adoption Center.

Donated coats will be sent to various local charitable organizations who distribute the coats to community members in need.

Many of the events give a seasonal twist to iconic Oakland County locations. Examples include Zoo Boo at the Detroit Zoo, Halloween Science at the Cranbrook Institute of Science, and Halloween in Hollygrove in Holly. With cider mills all around us in Oakland County, fall is one of our favorite seasons! All year long, we look forward to “Cider Mill Season” to enjoy locally grown apples, apple cider, donuts, and other cider mill goodies. In addition to sweet treats, cider mills offer a variety of fun activities, including apple picking, pumpkin picking, a corn maze, pony rides, a petting zoo, and hayrides.
