If you’re looking for a meaningful way to celebrate Earth Day and reduce your energy bills, join an upcoming Solarize OC event. Solarize Oakland County is a series of free public education events that cover solar basics, costs and energy savings, and discount opportunities.
At a Solarize OC event, you can expect to:
- Learn how solar works
- Explore financial benefits, ROI, and long-term savings
- Connect with community leaders, neighbors, and vetted solar installers
- Experience no sales pressure—just expert education
The first commercial solar cell was created by an American inventor in 1881. Since then, solar power has come a long way in both affordability and efficiency. Data shows that solar panel prices have fallen 90% in the past decade, and that solar technology is viable in Michigan’s climate.
Lower utility bills can make a big difference for households and businesses, especially with the continued trend of rising energy costs. Solar is an investment that can reduce electric bills today and protect against rising rates in the future.
However, many people are new to solar and struggle to find trusted information about upgrading their energy source. Oakland County’s Office of Sustainability has partnered with the Great Lakes Renewable Energy Association to provide reliable, accessible solar resources through Solarize OC.
The next Solarize OC event is on Wednesday, April 29 from 6:30-8:30pm at the Novi Public Library. See more details and register for the event.
- 6:30-7:30 p.m. – Solarize OC for businesses, houses of worship, non-profits, and local governments
- 7:30-8:30 p.m. – Solarize OC for residents
- Food will be provided
- Open to all residents and commercial buildings in Oakland County.
Houses of worship, non-profits, businesses, and local governments will have a separate presentation to understand the additional 30% federal solar tax credit available to them. The federal solar tax credit is no longer available for residential installations.
All event attendees qualify for a 5-15% bulk-buy discount on solar, if they decide to move forward with an installation. Save on solar energy and reduce your carbon pollution this April with Solarize Oakland County!
Can’t attend on April 29? That’s okay! Solarize OC events will continue throughout the spring and summer. Sign up for the mailing list or check the Solarize OC website to see future events as they’re announced.
