Beat your cabin fever with an outdoor adventure! Oakland County Parks (OCP) offers a variety of Adaptive Recreation programs for individuals with physical and cognitive disabilities.
Paved trails at Addison Oaks, Groveland Oaks, Independence Oaks, Lyon Oaks, and Waterford Oaks county parks are groomed during the winter, creating accessible winter walkways perfect for hiking and bird watching! Check out the illuminated walking path at Waterford Oaks Feb. 20-22 and Feb. 27-March 1 from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Special Olympics Youth Athletes
When: March 10, 17, 14, 24, 31 and April 7, 14 from 4:30-5:30 p.m.
Where: Waterford Oaks Event Center, 2800 Watkins Lake Rd, Waterford
Special Olympics Youth Athletes is a free, six-week sport and play program designed for children ages 4-7 with and without physical and cognitive disabilities. Participants will practice basic sports skills like running, kicking, and throwing while learning critical social skills like how to play with others.

Adaptive Recreation Experience
When: Friday, March 27 from 4-7 p.m.
Where: UWM Sports Complex, 867 S. Blvd. E, Pontiac
Don’t miss the upcoming Adaptive Recreation Experience! Explore hands-on activities like archery, curling, golf, wheelchair basketball and more during this free community event. This event is sponsored by Strive Recreational Therapy in cooperation with partners, Oakland County Parks and UWM Sports Complex. Registration for the event is open.
