This year, the original Brooksie Way course is back and it’s more runner friendly than ever before! The Brooksie Way is one of many memorable races in Oakland County and is considered to be one of Oakland County’s premier quality of life events.
It’s all about speed. Their light weight allows them to glide across the lake’s surface as if it were glass.
Grand Prix drivers from across the country will race across Pontiac Lake in Inboard Hydroplane boats, competing for a spot in the record books. In fact, Quake on the Lake holds 21 American Power Boat Association (APBA) records for speed in five different racing classes. This recognition makes Quake on the Lake one of the fastest one-mile race courses in the country.
The 2016 Fire & Ice Festival in Downtown Rochester drew record-breaking crowds with over 50,000 attendees last weekend. The ice carving competition, ice tree, and outdoor activities kept attendees entertained all weekend. 177 volunteers from the Oakland County Parks and Recreation department helped the festival run smoothly, and provided many entertaining activities. The 2016 Michigan Winter Dog Classic Show is returning to the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi January 21-24. Michigan’s largest dog show brings thousands of dog enthusiasts to Oakland County, offering seminars, educational demonstrations, and obedience and conformation judging. There’s plenty of fun for the whole family!
The Fire & Ice Festival, running January 22-24, is one of the premier Oakland County quality of life events that brings entertainment to residents and visitors. In its 9th year, the festival expects to draw more than 40,000 visitors to Downtown Rochester, and surrounding areas.
