A well placed trailside bluebird box is one of easiest and most rewarding ways to do something good for the environment and it adds increased visual enjoyment for trail users – thoughts that gave wings to this week’s blog for the birds: the Eastern Bluebirds that live in our midst along the Polly Ann Trail. Lights on the Lake Brightens Oakland County this Holiday Season!

Lights on the Lake in Lake Orion is a must-see light and sound display, with over 14,000 pixels synchronized to music and two different shows that run on alternating days. Head to 439 Shady Oaks to see it in person while you listen to the broadcast on 93.1 FM.

Check out our video for a preview before you go and learn what inspired Rob and Lindsey-Anne Gawthrop to create a holiday wonderland using pixels. Each individual pixel can be controlled to show any color, making all kinds of patterns possible. The show runs: Sunday–Thursday from 5:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. and Friday–Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.

My Light Show brings Joy to Oakland County this Holiday Season!

My Light Show is an animated light and sound holiday spectacular in Waterford. Located at 2651 Cherokee Hills Circle, the sensational music and light experience uses 60,000 lights that are synced to a variety of modern-day dance, pop, and holiday music broadcasted on 100.7 FM.

Panda-Monium at the Detroit Zoo

Monday morning was pure panda-monium at the Detroit Zoo. However, neither the heavily overcast sky, nor the frigid temperatures dampened the heartwarming enthusiasm as Detroit Zoo’s latest major habitat expansion, the Holtzman Wildlife Foundation Red Panda Forest, was unveiled to an excited gathering of media, honored guests, and students from Holy Redeemer Grade School in Detroit. They were all invited for an exclusive first tour of the newly renovated and expanded home for three charismatic creatures: two-year old Ravi, three-year old Ash and 13-year-old Ta-shi. The trio are Red Pandas, an endangered species with unforgettable and intensely cute faces, but sometimes the totally adorable factor is not enough to ensure survival. Continue reading
