The Woodward Dream Cruise Returns to Oakland County Aug. 19

Gather your car club, shine up your classic ride, rev up your engines! The world’s largest one-day auto event, bringing in over a million people and thousands of muscle cars, street rods, custom, collector and special interest vehicles from around the world, the Woodward Dream Cruise, is returning to Oakland County Saturday, Aug. 19! Kicking off at 9 a.m., travel along the 16-mile stretch of Woodward and cruise through nine Oakland County communities: Berkley, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Pleasant Ridge, Pontiac and Royal Oak.

The Dream Cruise is a free, family-friendly event that has plenty to offer to car owners, auto fanatics, and fans of all ages. Spectators can line up along the cruising route or even cruise with the classics, although those not driving a classic car are asked to stay out of the two right lanes nearest to the curb to keep a clear view for fans. There will also be many restaurants, retail vendors and pop-up events scattered across the route. In addition, bands and musicians will perform on the Rock’n Live Entertainment Stage on Friday and Saturday in Ferndale.

Cruising Dates

The Woodward Dream Cruise is technically a one-day event that takes place annually on the third Saturday in August and runs from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. This year, the cruise is planned for Saturday, Aug. 19, although you’ll find the celebration of classic cars firing up on Friday.

Friday, Aug. 18

Berkley CruiseFest: 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Ferndale Emergency Vehicle Show: 1 – 7 p.m.
Lights & Sirens Cruise: 5:30 p.m.
MMRA’s Quarter Midget Racing Cars: 12 – 8 p.m.
Performance Park Classic Car Show: 12 – 7 p.m.

Saturday, Aug. 19

Birmingham Cruise: 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Cruise In Shoes 5k Run: 8 – 9:30 a.m.
Ford Bronco Show: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Mustang Alley: 10 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Performance Park Classic Car Show: 8 a.m. – 8 p.m.

On Saturday, Aug. 19, SMART shuttle service will allow riders to experience the Woodward Dream Cruise in a whole new way, providing a break from walking the Dream Cruise route. The one-day SMART Shuttle is FREE, and spectators can board at any SMART RED or FAST bus stop from 8 Mile Road to Pontiac.
