Engines Roar as the Woodward Dream Cruise Rolls Into Oakland County

Crowds of all ages flocked to the Woodward Dream Cruise on Saturday, August 18th, 2018. The loud roar of engines could be heard up and down Woodward Avenue and across Oakland County as an estimated 1.5 million people attended the world’s largest one-day automotive event. With simultaneous events taking place in multiple cities like Ferndale, Royal Oak, and Pontiac, fans of the event had plenty of places to go and explore.

More than 40,000 cars were brought to the celebrations this year, which meant the Dream Cruise was packed with exciting and unique things to see. There were classic cars, modern hot rods, and a few pop culture classics that sent nostalgic hearts racing.

One of the pop culture icon vehicles on display was the Mystery Machine from Scooby Doo, which thrilled both children and adults alike in its familiarity. The classic Delorean was also a big hit. Made famous by the Back to the Future trilogy this car is known for its signature doors that open vertically. Also cruising around Woodward was the Batmobile, exciting lovers of the classic comic book character, Batman, everywhere it went.

Hot rods and muscle cars were found everywhere you looked during this special event. People from all over the world attended and were wowed by the impressive engines and slick paint jobs. Creative, custom cars also lined the streets, displaying the talents of their owners and showing the passion that goes into creating and maintaining these cars.
