Business Research: Feasibility to Expansion
Tuesday, July 12, 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM

Fee: This workshop is free but pre-registration is required

Start-ups and new businesses alike are welcome to attend Business Research. If you’ve thought about starting your own business and want to expand on your idea,  learn about market trends and find opportunities to grow sales. Business Research will show you ways to find your ideal customer, identify your competitors, and perform competitive analysis.

CEED Lending Small Business Loan Orientation
Wednesday, July 13, 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM

Fee: This workshop is free but pre-registration is required

As a small business, it’s important to understand the steps to obtaining a business loan. Many small businesses face obstacles when trying to obtain a business loan. If your business is located in Oakland County and you have a need for alternative financing consider the CEED Lending Small Business Loan Program. This workshop will provide the requirements for the program and will detail the process necessary to apply for and obtain a Small Business Loan. CEED Lending is an initiative of Great Lakes Women’s Business Council.

Starting a Business
Thursday, July 14, 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM

Fee: This workshop is free but pre-registration is required

This workshop is designed for individuals who are just starting a business. It will help aspiring entrepreneurs assess their abilities to lead and manage a company, as well as evaluate market and sales potential for their products/services. Startup costs, financing options, and business planning are introduced, along with necessary steps to getting started.

Five Steps to Twitter Mastery
Thursday, July 21, 9:00 AM to 11:30 AM

Fee: This workshop is free but pre-registration is required

Five Steps to Twitter Mastery provides a great introduction into Twitter and details the importance of Twitter as a social media channel. Create a compelling message and learn the importance of communicating in less than 140 characters. Cut through all of the noise, create tweets that will help grow your business and get you followed and find valuable third party pages to monitor for conversations relevant to your business. Five Steps to Twitter Mastery will give you strategies that connect you to vital information and new opportunities. You’ll be ready to get your tweet-on and do it in a way that is both fun and rewarding.

Walk-In Start-Up Thursdays
Every Thursday, all year, 9:30 AM – Noon & 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM

Fee: This workshop is free and no appointment is necessary

Individuals who want to launch a business but don’t know where to begin can receive confidential, one-on-one advice from an experienced business consultant. Counselors will answer start-up questions, suggest next steps and guidance on business planning tools. Walk-in sessions available on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited to 15 minutes.
