It’s a Fetchin’ Good Time

Fetch is the game, dog park is the name! Whether your four-legged friends are putting their doggy-paddling skills to the test, or racing for a sailing tennis ball, Oakland County Dog Parks provide three locations where all dogs can run, jump and play.

Vast open spaces, complete with trails, lakes and fields, give way to an earthly heaven for all dogs (and their owners). It’s the perfect place for you and your pooch to exercise and socialize.

All Oakland County Dog Parks, including Red Oaks Dog Park, located in Madison Heights, Lyon Oaks Dog Park, located in Wixom and Orion Oaks Dog Park, located in Lake Orion are open to the public.

Lyon Oaks Dog Park is located at 52221 Pontiac Trail in Wixom. It features a 13-acre fenced enclosure with small dog area, benches, shelter and picnic tables, water fountain and field training area. Hours are approximately 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes after sunset.

Orion Oaks Dog Park is located at 1200 Joslyn Road in Lake Orion. It offers a 24-acre fenced enclosure with small dog area, two trails, picnic shelter, drinking water, field area, new parking lot and access to Lake Sixteen for swimming (sorry, dogs only). Modern restrooms are available. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 30 minutes after sunset, or as posted at the park.

Orion Oaks Dog Park includes three separate sections (A, B, & C), which are rotated on a monthly basis. Due to turf conditions, the park manager may change the open area at any time. Call 248-625-0877 for current information.

Red Oaks Dog Park is located at 31353 Dequindre in Madison Heights. This 5.2-acre site offers up to four fenced enclosures, including one for smaller dogs. Pet-lover amenities also include a pets-only drinking water source, picnic shelter, pet waste stations and a paved parking lot. Hours are 8:00 a.m. to 30 minutes after sunset, or as posted at the park.
