April 5 – Business Research: Feasibility to Expansion
Tuesday, April 5, 6:00 PM to 8:30 PM

For a startup or existing small business looking to research a business idea or business plan. This workshop shows you ways to find your ideal customers, find your competitors, diversify your market base, perform competitive analysis and more. April 13 – CEED Lending Small Business Loan Orientation

Many small businesses face obstacles when trying to obtain a business loan. If your business is located in Oakland County and you have a need for alternative financing consider the CEED (Center for Empowerment and Economic Development) Lending Small Business Loan Program. Discover the requirements and process necessary to apply for and obtain a Small Business Loan. CEED Lending is an initiative of Great Lakes Women’s Business Council. April 14 – Starting A Business

This workshop is for individuals at the beginning stages of starting a business. It will help aspiring entrepreneurs assess their abilities to lead and manage a company, as well as evaluate market and sales potential for their products/services. Topics discussed include startup costs, financing options and business planning along with necessary steps to getting started. Presented by the Michigan Small Business Development Center. April 21 – SCORE
Thursday, April 21, 8:45 AM to Noon

Cost: $20 per person

Improve Your Odds When Seeking A Small Business Loan. Getting a small business loan can be a challenging process. Learn the “5 C’s of Credit”, how to develop a winning loan proposal and what you need to know to position your business to be “bankable” before you meet with a lender. May 4 – Mergers & Acquisitions Executive Roundtable
Wednesday, May 4, 7:30 AM to 9:30 AM

Second-Stage Businesses (with over $1 million annual revenue) can hear about the current market and ways to navigate the complexities of a sale or achieve growth through acquisitions or capital raise. Keeping pace with the M&A environment can be challenging. Discussions cover: Transaction Rationale, Transaction Optimization, and Proceeds Management. This engaging breakfast panel represents a wide range of expertise – from Doeren Mayhew, Comerica Bank, LV2 Equity Partners, Jaffe Raitt Heur & Weiss and Harvey Hohauser and Associates.

May 10 – Capital Raise

If you are a startup or early-stage growth-based business looking for funding, we invite you to attend a 90-minute presentation by our capital strategist, Mike Brennan. He will detail the various capital sources in Michigan and talk about how to position your company to qualify for various funding sources, including private/angel, SBA, short-term private lending, private equity, venture capital and angel network. Walk-In Start-Up Thursdays
Every Thursday, all year, 9 AM – Noon and 1:30 PM – 4:30 PM

Fee: This workshop is free and no appointment is necessary

Individuals who want to launch a business but don’t know where to begin can receive confidential, one-on-one advice from an experienced business consultant. Counselors will answer start-up questions, suggest next steps and guidance on business planning tools. Walk-in sessions available on a first-come, first-served basis and are limited to 15 minutes.
