National Gun Safety Awareness Day

childsafe_logoJune 6th is National Gun Safety Awareness Day

The Oakland County Board of Commissioners Cubing Gun Violence Work Study Group in partnership with the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office, Project ChildSafe, Crime Stoppers and local law agencies will host a news conference on June 3rd at 2 p.m. at the Board of Commissioners Auditorium at 1200 N Telegraph Road.

Information about the Gun Safety Lock Giveaway program for Gun Safety Awareness Day and an update on the ongoing efforts of the Study Group on Curbing Gun Violence will be shared.

Jessie Kanehl, will briefly share her story of losing a family member to gun violence.

Elected Officials and law enforcement leaders will be present at the news conference.

Local law agencies will receive cable-style gun locks provided by National Project ChildSafe.

The Oakland County Sheriff Office, Auburn Hills, Berkley, Beverly Hills, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, Clawson, Farmington, Farmington Hills, Ferndale, Village of Franklin and Bingham Farms, Hazel Park, Oakland University Police Department, Orchard Lake, Oxford Village, Pleasant Ridge, Rochester, Royal Oak, Southfield, South Lyon, Sylvan Lake, Troy, Holly Village, Huntington Woods, Huron Valley Metro Parks, Keego Harbor, Lake Angelus, Lake Orion Village, Lathrup Village, Madison Heights, Northville, Novi, Oak Park, West Bloomfield, White Lake Township, Wixom and Wolverine Lake Village.
